It was the city's driest August - September period on record, and October got off to a similar start.

A low pressure system that pushed into the province over the weekend however, brought significant rainfall to some areas.

Upwards of 130 mm fell in West Vancouver through Monday night, while places like Squamish and Pitt Meadows saw closer to 100 mm.

More rain is expected in parts of the province later this week, with an additional 30-40 mm expected.

Before this latest soaking, Vancouver's last big rain storm happened on June 23rd. 14 mm of rain fell that day.
