Vernal equinox marks the start of spring
The vernal equinox will arrive on March 20th
The vernal equinox - and the start of the spring season - arrive on March 20th.
On the day of the vernal equinox, the sun crosses the equator and starts to take a higher position over the northern hemisphere - providing us with approximately equal amounts of daylight and darkness.
From this day on the days will get longer, due to the sun's higher position in the northern hemisphere. This trend will continue until we reach the summer solstice on June 20th.
But that's not all that the night sky has in store.
The March sky has plenty to offer stargazers this month.
Happy equinox!
