February 18, 2010 — A tornado formed in northern Australia yesterday, and a family caught it all on their camera. Click the video on the left to check out the action.
Here's something you certainly don't see every day.
A family in north Queensland filmed a tornado ripping through their farm field on Wednesday. They say they grabbed their camera as soon as they noticed a strange formation in the clouds.
The tornado left a trail of damage that was more than five metres wide. A canalisation infrastructure was destroyed, among other things. Tractor tires and pipes were eventually found more than 100 metres away.
The family said they had never seen anything like it before. They were amused by the phenomenon, but said they were a little nervous as the tornado moved towards them.
