YVR Breaks Temperature Record

Laurissa Anyas-Weiss, content producer

January 11, 2010 — The system that brought heavy rain to BC yesterday also brought record mild temperatures.

Monday, Vancouver International Airport registered a record high temperature of 13.1 degrees. The previous record of 12.2 degrees was set back in 1941. The mild temperatures will continue for the next few days although no records are expected to be broken.

The system that brought the record mild temperatures is expected to move out Wednesday giving BC a brief reprieve before another system moves in on Thursday.

YVR may be on the way to breaking another record, for the monthly rainfall amounts. In the first eleven days of January over 79 mm of rain has fallen. The average for January is 153 mm of rain.

Rainfall and Wind Warnings are in effect for the BC Interior.
