Calgary Gets a Fresh Blanket of Snow

February 18, 2010 — Old Man Winter made an appearance in Calgary yesterday, and made for some messy roadways.

A combination of fresh snow and mild temperatures made for some slushy conditions in the city of Calgary yesterday.

Several accidents were reported, including four multi-vehicle collisions.

It was the second consecutive day that Calgary's morning commute was affected by the weather. On Tuesday, freezing fog made for slick roads. It also led to major flight delays at the Calgary International Airport.

'It's not heavy snow, but it's slippery!' said one Calgary commuter. 'A little treacherous on the side streets.'

Still, others were taking the wintery weather in stride.

'It's Calgary. We expect these kinds of things,' said another commuter. 'Cold one day, and warm the next.'

Today, we're calling for some more fog and drizzle across the Prairies, along with some snow in the southern foothills.

Before you hit the road for your morning and evening commute, make sure you check out our Highway Conditions Report on TV. It comes up at :25 and :56 minutes past each hour.
