A Texas-Louisiana low moving up from the US could bring freezing rain and the possibility of significant snow accumulation to parts of Southern Ontario and Quebec in time for tomorrow.s morning commute.
Windsor . GTA Corridor
The current storm track suggests rain could start falling by late afternoon in Windsor as the system moves into the area. The GTA is expected to start seeing rain sometime Sunday evening with the possibility of turning to snow or freezing rain overnight.
Current forecasts suggest the system should move out of the GTA by dawn leaving road crews time to clear any snow and salt in time for the Monday morning commute. Nonetheless drivers should be prepared for a slow drive in to work tomorrow morning.
Accumulation amounts suggest the GTA could get up to 5cm with areas to the north getting up to 15cm due to colder temperatures and lake effect snow around Lake Huron, Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe.
Ottawa . Montreal . Gaspe Region
The low pressure system will likely hit the Ottawa - Montreal area Sunday overnight and the Gaspe region early Monday morning.
With the system moving into the area overnight, there is a risk of freezing rain that could stretch into the Monday morning commute. If this turns into a snow event, accumulations could be as high as 20cm . nothing out of the ordinary for Southern Quebec but definitely enough to make the drive in on Monday slow.
