The cruise ship Louis Majesty was hit by a large wave on Wednesday. Two people died in the incident and six others were injured. The vessel was in the Mediterranean Sea and was heading to Genoa when the wave struck.
A coast guard spokesperson said the Maltese-registered ship took on water when the wave shattered a glass area of the hull.
A spokesperson for the cruise line owners, Louis Cruises, said the ship had sailed through waves eight metres tall.
The Louis Majesty docked in Barcelona so the injured passengers could receive treatment.
