A developing system will be moving into Ontario and Quebec this weekend. Rain will arrive in Southern Ontario Saturday evening reaching Ottawa and Montreal Sunday morning. Some parts could see over 30mm of rain.
As the low centre pushes east, temperatures will fall throughout Southern Ontario during the day Sunday. By Sunday night, it will be cold enough to expect snow for the cottage country
Northern Ontario and Quebec
For the Nickelbelt, a band of freezing rain will come in during the Saturday overnight hours and into Sunday morning. Expect slippery surfaces on Hwy 11 and Hwy 17. The freezing rain threat should subside as it will push into parts of central Quebec by Sunday afternoon.
For places farther north and west such as Timmins and Sault Ste. Marie, this will be a snow event beginning Saturday night and ending around noon Monday. Up to 20cm of snow will fall in some places.
Winds will be gusty but not as bad as some of the systems we have seen since the start of the year. Expect gusts to reach 60km/h behind the system around Sunday night.
