A retired civil servant in Indonesia is devoting his life to keeping his city clean.
67-year-old Sariban lives in the West Java Capital city of Bandung. Every day since 1972, Sariban voluntarily gets on his bicycle and collects garbage, sweeps the streets and cleans the ditches.
He even takes the time to separate non organic garbage from organic garbage. Sariban then packs everything into small plastic bags and places them into a dumping bin at the city's wet market.
Bandung is home to 2.5 million people. The city faces floodings every year.
In March, thousands were evacuated from their homes as the Citarum river overflowed due to garbage that clogged up several stream sections.
Sariban points to the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
'I am doing this because I think that if we live in a clean environment our lives would be healthier,' he says.
He also says the government should create stronger environmental protection laws.
'They have to show the people how to do it, practice it.
