September 19, 2010 — The Gardiner Expressway has reopened early, but there are still other road and subway closures across Toronto on Sunday.

The Gardiner Expressway has reopened early. It was closed for regular maintenance and construction work at the Jameson bridge until Monday morning at 5 a.m. However, it has now reopened a day ahead of schedule and all lanes are clear. Drivers can expect other closures from September 28 through October 7.

SUBWAY CLOSURES

Service will be shut down between Downsview and Lawrence West subway stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line starting on Saturday at 6 a.m. Shuttle buses will be available, but TTC officials require riders to have transfers for connecting routes at Glencairn and Yorkdale stations. Regular service resumes on Monday morning.

WEEKEND EVENTS

  • Church Street will be closed from Carlton to Alexander streets from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. as The AIDS Walk for Life takes place on Sunday from 11 a.m to 6 p.m.
  • Bloor Street will be closed from Jane Street to Runnymede Avenue from Friday at 9:30 a.m. to Sunday at 11:59 p.m. for the Bloor West Village Ukrainian Festival
  • The Variety Village Run and Walk-N-Roll event will close Danforth Avenue, from Kingston to Birchmount roads from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
  • The 30th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run is on Sunday with various events being held around the GTA.
