As Hurricane Danielle and Tropical Storm Frank pick up strength, it may have many people recalling a devastating event from 18 years ago.
On August 24th, 1992 Hurricane Andrew ripped across southern Florida. The storm made landfall with winds gusting to 265 km/h.
Over a million residents were forced to flee their homes, but for some it was too late. Andrew killed at least 40 people in its path from the Bahamas to Florida.
The storm certainly left its mark with over $20 billion in property damage.
Not only was it one of the most expensive storms to hit the U.S., it was also one of the most destructive.
