July 5, 2012 — A 21-year-old rock climber is dead following a lightning strike near Quebec City Wednesday evening.

Local authorities believe the strike occurred within close proximity to the man, who was climbing a mountain in Saint-Raymond de Portneuf at the time, causing him to fall.

The body was retrieved from a ravine Thursday morning.

A friend of the climber - who was at present the time of the fall - was examined at a Quebec City hospital.
