Earthquake Strikes Mexico

February 9, 2010 — A magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit Mexico on Monday.

Officials say quakes of magnitude 5 and above are considered moderate. They are however, capable of causing considerable damage.

There were no immediate reports of damage with the latest quake to hit the city of Oaxaca in Mexico on Monday.

Residents remained calm while standing outside of buildings on the street.

Oaxaca is known as a popular tourist site for its ruins, churches and beaches.
