The ceremony is being held outdoors, and it doesn't look like the weather is going to cooperate. The rain has been falling on and off today, and it will continue into the overnight. Executive Producer of the ceremony Patrick Roberge is staying positive, “It would be great if we got a little dusting of snow. It would make the show look spectacular.“ However, there is a chance that some of the elements of the program could change based on Mother Nature.
The weather has been troublesome at times for the games. Last weekend, thick fog and heavy snow forced several alpine events to be cancelled or postponed. Last month, Mother Nature threw a series of curveballs at athletes and organizers of the 2010 Vancouver Games. Events were cancelled and postponed for all kinds of weather conditions, including fog, heavy snow, melting snow and ice.
Despite the weather, Canadians boasted an exceptional performance at the Paralympic Games. The country placed third overall with a total of 18 medals, 9 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze.
