The Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade

March 17, 2010 — March 17, 2010 - You could say Canadians had the luck of the Irish based on Wednesday's weather, but thousands of people around the world joined in on the celebrations.

From shamrocks to leprechauns, it was a day of green all over the world.

Most Canadians were celebrating St. Patrick's Day outside on Wednesday. And it's no wonder. Record breaking temperatures were felt all across the country. The warm weather made for a perfect day to hit the slopes in Ontario. And for those who prefered to celebrate in a pub, conditions were great for waiting in line.

While it was a patio type of day in Canada, in New York, it was more of a parade-like day.

Thousands of New Yorkers lined the streets of Fifth Avenue for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. This was the 249th year for the celebration.

It was a great day for the parade with clear skies and temperatures in the high teens.

And it's a good thing.

The celebration on the streets lasted six hours long.
