Top 10 videos of the week: July 8

July 8, 2011 — It's time for our weekly recap of the best videos from the past seven days. Take a look at the top ten videos that made the cut.

We get a lot of footage each week here at The Weather Network, so we decided to share our favourites with you. Here are the weather videos that had people talking in Canada and around the world this week.

  • #10 -- Bayfield, Ont. Bayfield Main Beach in southwestern Ontario was named the 4th best beach on the Great Lakes this week. With big heat expected for the coming days, itís nice to know swimmers have a clean place to cool off.
  • #9 -- Antofagasta, Chile. Itís winter south of the equator, but the recent snow and cold in Chile is the worst in recent memory.
  • #8 -- Sichuan Province, China. Rainstorms have battered areas in mountainous Sichuan since July 2. With over 300 millimeters recorded in several counties, at least 1.5 million people have been affected by the flood waters.
  • #7 -- Winterton, NL . We loved this video of whale watching in Newfoundland. That whale seems so incredibly close to the boat.
  • #6 -- Kenora, Ont. A road sign floating down the road. Heavy rains in Kenora, Ont caused this interesting sight.
  • #5 -- Cold Lake, Alta. It was a stormy scene in Cold Lake, Alberta this past weekend. Thanks to Shana for sending in this video.
  • #4 -- Martensville, Sask. Valeria had her camera in hand as she captured this video of winds and rain battering Martensville, Saskatchewan.
  • #3 -- London, Ont. The colours of the sky were what first drew us to this video shot by Lyona in London, Ontario. She also managed to capture some lightning.
  • #2 -- Grand Bend, Ont. Beach-goers were caught off guard in Grand Bend, Ontario on the Canada Day long weekend. A beautiful day quickly turned violent with strong winds whipping sand all over the place.
  • #1 -- Phoenix, Ariz. Sand of epic proportions takes the top spot this week. A mammoth sand storm blasted its way through Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday causing flight delays and damage to homes.

Those are videos ten through one for this week. Don't forget to tune in to The Weather Network on TV every Friday morning for our weekly roundup of the top weather videos of the week.
