Top 10 videos of the week: January 21

January 21, 2011 — Time for our weekly recap of the best videos from the past seven days. Take a look at the top ten videos that made the cut.

We get a lot of footage each week here at The Weather Network, so we decided to share our favourites with you. Here are the weather videos that had people talking in Canada and around the world this week.

  • #10 -- Nova Friburgo, Brazil. It's being called one of Brazil's worst natural disasters. Deadly floods and massive landslides cut off entire neighborhoods.
  • #9 -- Moncton, N.B. The stormy winter continues in the Maritimes, as New Brunswick gets hit with freezing rain, rain and snow -- which all left a mess behind.
  • #8 -- Athabasca, Alberta. Teelow tries to be a helpful snow dog. But he gets in the way sometimes.
  • #7 -- Kitimat, B.C. Canadian children always know what to do with the snow in the backyard. Pile it up, and jump in it!
  • #6 -- Oakville, Ontario. Comedian Rick Mercer is a familiar face on TV, but what about on The Weather Network? You be the judge of his attempt at weather broadcasting.
  • #5 -- Edmonton, Alberta. There is jumping in the snow, and then there is this: Jumping WITH the snow. Who wants to wait until the summer to use the backyard trampoline?
  • #4 -- New York, N.Y. A run in the snow, and a dip in the ocean, are all in a day's exercise for one dedicated fitness buff in the Big Apple.
  • #3 -- Greymouth, New Zealand. In what could be a movie scene, a fishing boat was stranded in high seas and the captain had to make a risky decision.
  • #2 -- Toronto, Ontario. One man decided to salt the road himself, and it turns out that it wasn't a bad idea. Just ask his neighbours.
  • #1 -- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Even with salt, winter tires, and good brakes, sometimes there is just no match for an icy road.
  • Those are videos ten through one for this week. Don't forget to tune in to The Weather Network on TV every Friday morning for our weekly roundup of the top weather videos of the week.

This week's videos were voiced by weather presenters Kim MacDonald and Chris Murphy.

The Weather Network's 'Top 10 Weather Videos' segment is created by BJ Stewart.
